Community Development: New lift for Abbey Pool, a big contribution to Manor's new sports centre, and Play equipment Âon the upswing!

Better play facilities, more skateboarding and a commitment to sport in the city are all on the agenda at the CDL scrutiny committee on Thursday 4th July. Agenda items include:

  • A new lift for the Abbey Pool, meaning that people with mobility problems will be able to use the Reflexions Fitness Suite
  • The city proposes to make a £225,000 contribution towards a new sports centre at Manor Community College
  • Refurbishing the play area at St Matthew's Piece with modern equipment, better seating and litter bins. The council has attracted funds from the government to pay for this
  • New skateboard facilities at skateboard parks in Coleridge Recreation Ground and Kings Hedges Rec
  • kick about/football kickabout all and upgrading area and upgrading the play area at King George V Playing Field, Trumpington. The council has attracted government funds to improve playing fields and provide an up to date all weather area. There are also plans for brand new play equipment and separate areas for under 7s and older children.

According to Cllr Joye Rosenstiel, the Exec Councillor for CDL, "I am delighted to say that children's play facilities, sports facilities and young people's leisure activities are all being backed by the council"
