Success for campaign to save Citi 4

July 19, 2006 11:10 AM

Lib Dem City Councillor for Queen Edith's, Amanda Taylor, is today celebrating the news that the Citi 4 bus service which links Addenbrooke's Hospital to key university sites in West Cambridge is to be retained under the new name Uni 4, thanks to financial support from Cambridge University.

Earlier this year, there were fears that the contract for the Citi 4, funded by the University of Cambridge and the Council, might not be renewed when it runs out in November. Cllr Taylor and Lib Dem City Councillor for Newnham, Julie Smith, met with University planning officers to make the case for the Citi 4.

Councillor Taylor commented on the news:

"I'm delighted to hear that the Addenbrooke's to West Cambridge bus route is to be retained. It is a much valued service for many students and local residents in the area.

"I am especially pleased that the public will be able to use the service as well as university staff and students. This is great news for people who use it to go to the Fitzwilliam Museum, U3A classes, schools and other places in the West Cambridge area."

Cllr Smith said, 'It's great news that the University has decided to keep this service going as it provides a much need link to Addenbrooke's for residents in Newnham as well as helping University staff and students move between various University sites, particularly in West Cambridge.'
