Police must act on threatening behaviour

November 13, 2006 1:05 PM

Cambridge MP, David Howarth, has demanded action on threatening behaviour on Elizabeth Way underpass.

Following concerns raised by local residents, Mr. Howarth has written to Chief Constable, Julie Spence, and Liz Bissett, Director of Community Services at Cambridge City Council, to raise concerns about intimidating behaviour in the area.

The Police are also holding a public meeting on Monday 13th November to discuss the extension of the Section 30 Dispersal Order.

Mr. Howarth commented:

"Local residents are concerned that they feel intimidated by threatening behaviour when using the Elizabeth Way underpass. They no longer feel safe walking through the underpass when traveling home from school or the shops.

"I welcome the fact that the police have called a public meeting to discuss the issue. I hope that they will respond to calls from

residents and the Council and take action against any criminal activity taking place."
