Committee decision will reduce illegal parking

January 24, 2007 12:40 PM

Lib Dem County Councillor for Trumpington, Anne Kent, is today welcoming news that 10 minute minimum stays will be retained at Pay and Display sites in Trumpington.

On Monday the City and County Council's Area Joint Committee on Cambridge traffic voted against plans to increase the minimum wait at Pay and Display from 10 minutes to 30 minutes in the Cambridge outer area.

Coun Kent commented:

"Illegal parking is a problem around many schools including St Faiths and St Albans schools. Many parents use Pay and Display bays to drop their children off at schools in Newtown and Trumpington and so the 10 minute minimum encourages these drivers to park legally in these bays and so reduces illegal parking in the area.
