Threat to recycling in flats

Liberal Democrats on Cambridge City Council are fighting to retain recycling in the city's flats.
In their budget amendment, which will be debated in Full Council on Thursday, the Labour group have proposed cutting the extension of recycling facilities in flats.
Leader of the City Council, Councillor Ian Nimmo-Smith, commented:
"Since door to door recycling was introduced in Cambridge, recycling rates have improved significantly. We've been working to extend these facilities to those living in difficult to reach places like flats but the Labour group are proposing to cut this service.

"We want to give everyone a chance to recycle but these proposals exclude flat dwellers. Instead they propose extra recycling bins on the often very crowded streets of the city, providing extra facilities for those who already have access to door-to-door recycling."
