We must learn from mistakes of Cambourne

March 30, 2007 10:32 AM

Lib Dem County Councillor for Trumpington, Anne Kent, has called for lessons to be learned from Cambourne.

Councillor Kent's comments were made when she was invited to address a City Council meeting yesterday considering the possible sites for community facilities to serve both the new and old developments in Trumpington.

Councillor Kent commented:

"It is crucial that we provide good community facilities for those already living in Trumpington and for the new developments and that we do it soon. We must learn the lessons of Cambourne. These facilities need to be there from the beginning, residents should not have to wait years for a community centre.

"We must be planning now to provide good facilities as soon as residents move in, even if it is a temporary solution. It is unlikely that one community building will provide all the facilities the area needs and so we need to be looking at how to provide facilities that everyone living in Trumpington can use."
