Support needed for Teenage Cancer Trust Unit at Addenbrooke's Hospital - Howarth

The Cambridge MP, David Howarth LD, has urged the public to support the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) Unit at Addenbrooke's.

The Unit will cost £2 million and provide 10 beds for specialist cancer care patients aged 13 to 22 from across East Anglia.

Former patients and their parents have been involved in drawing up the design proposals.

Mr Howarth said:" I would urge the public to support the £2 million appeal fund for the TCT Unit at Addenbrooke's. The TCT fund raisers have set themselves a real challenge but I am sure it is a challenge that they can rise to and achieve if we all join in.

"They need every adult in East Anglia to give just £1 to meet their target. We should all sign up to staging an event or giving a donation and put it on our New Year's resolution list.

"I have been impressed with the planning process and the inclusion of patients and their relatives in the design proposals. Entering hospital is a stressful time for all patients and creating a hospital environment where teenagers feel comfortable because it has been designed by patients for patients is admirable."
