Summer fun is child's play at Arbury's Community Café as the city's MP David Howarth found during a visit on Friday.

The event has been staged for two hours every Friday at the Nun's Way Recreation Ground pavilion.

It is part of a varied programme on offer through the Children and Young People's Participation Scheme (CHYPPS) run by Cambridge City Council.

Youngsters were taking part in art activities and face painting and perfecting their football and snooker skills. Others were challenging Tiger Woods to a game of golf on the play station.

Mr Howarth said: "It was great to see a wide range of different activities being enjoyed by these children during the long summer holidays.

During my visit, I could clearly see that this was a much-needed project, channelling the youngsters' energy and enthusiasm into really worthwhile activities. It was good to see them all having so much fun."
