Award demonstrates city council's commitment to sustainable travel for employees

• Cambridge City Council has been awarded Level 4 (Travel Plan Award standard) in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Workplace Travel Plan awards for its employee travel scheme
• The award reflects the hard work the council has undertaken to encourage staff to use more sustainable forms of travel for work
• Judges drew attention to the fact that the overwhelming majority of sustainable modes of transport showed an improvement over 2008, with walking to work increasing from 7% to 9.5%
Rod Cantrill, Executive Councillor for Customer Services and Resources, commented:
"The award is great news. Staff should be congratulated for the excellent efforts. The employee travel scheme is an illustration of the many steps the City Council is taking to reduce its carbon foot print and help in creating a more sustainable Cambridge"
