Julian HuppertCambridge MP Julian Huppert has welcomed the Queen's Speech saying it will be fantastic to see Lib Dem ideas and policies being put into action.

He said the measures set out in the coalition agreement are based on the values of freedom, fairness and responsibility.

'I am proud and delighted to be able to witness the Queen announcing so much Liberal Democrat policy," he said.

"Policies like restoring freedom and civil liberties by scrapping ID cards and passing a Great Repeal Bill that we have long argued for, will now be put into practice. Policies on cleaning up politics by reforming party funding, giving people the right to sack their MP if they've been found to have done something wrong and finally having an elected House of Lords, will help restore trust in our shattered political system.

"And a referendum to finally end the unfair First Past the Post system by introducing the Alternative Vote, means that, if successful, every MP would have to secure the support of over half of his or her constituents.

"It will be fantastic to see Liberal Democrat ideas and Liberal Democrat policies that we campaigned on during the election being put in place to make our country fairer."
