• The Mayor of Cambridge, Sheila Stuart will tomorrow (Friday, 4th June) formally open the new community facilities at Romsey Rec.

• The facilities incorporate new recreation equipment together with new toilet and changing room facilities.

• The total Council investment in the scheme is in excess of £250,000 with part of the funding coming from S106 funds.

Cllr Rod Cantrill, Executive Councillor for Arts and Recreation commented:

"This project is an excellent illustration of the council's strong commitment to investing in local communities within the city. The project has involved officers working closely with local residents and other key stakeholders, listening to and incorporating their views and comments on the proposals."

Cllr Paul Saunders, ward councillor for Romsey commented: "These improvements have made the park even more valued - as we can see by the numbers of people who use it regularly.

"A lot of hard work was done by Sarah Ellis Miller, former city councillor for Romsey, to make sure that the things highlighted by the consultation a year ago actually happened. We owe her a lot of thanks."
