• Cambridge City Council welcomes the agreement between the police and Strawberry Fair regarding how best to address the perceived concerns about future management of the event

• This agreement has been reflected in the minor variation that has been approved in relation to the premises licence the Council granted Strawberry Fair in March 2010

• Over the past weeks Strawberry Fair Committee, the Police and the Council have held constructive talks on making the event a safe and enjoyable experience. This joint approach provides a strong platform for working together to make next year's event a great success

Coun Rod Cantrill, Executive City Councillor for Arts and Recreation, commented:

"I welcome the constructive way in which the parties involved in this matter have discussed how we can ensure that Strawberry Fair is a safe and enjoyable event that is held in a positive environment without constraining the lives of residents or visitors.

"I am glad that a structure is now in place to ensure that for 2011 and beyond, Strawberry Fair is able to continue to offer a colourful and refreshing festival and be a key date in the cultural calendar of Cambridge. "
