Budget snub to UK business schools

7.00.00pm GMT Fri 24th Mar 2006

David Howarth, MP for Cambridge, has today expressed his surprise at Gordon Brown's snub to UK business schools.

Yesterday's budget announcement included funding summer bursaries for British students to study at American business schools but included no similar funding for business schools based in the United Kingdom, such as the Judge Institute of Management in Cambridge.

David commented:

"Investment in education is crucial but if the Government has money spare to invest in American business schools, they should spend it here where higher education is in dire need of new cash. We have a perfectly good business school right here in Cambridge."
