Kids still waiting for safe crossing

Lib Dem County Councillor for Arbury, Rupert Moss-Eccardt, has demanded a safer route to Mayfield Primary School.

During a debate on the Sustainable School Travel Strategy at Cambridgeshire County Council today, Councillor Moss-Eccardt asked the Council why children at Mayfield have been waiting over 16 months for safe crossing between Gilbert and Histon roads.

Councillor Moss-Eccardt commented:

"It was 16 months ago when the County Council agreed to fund a pedestrian phase on the traffic lights by Mayfield School but still local children and parents are waiting for any action.

Local City Councillor Alan Levy discusses the crossing with resident Clare Bartlet and her son

"These are two incredibly fast and dangerous roads and if the County Council are serious about sustainable travel to school they need to provide these children with a safe crossing point."
