Alex Beckett - Market
Cllr Alex Beckett has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Market Division in this year’s County Council elections.
Having moved to Market Ward 18 months ago with his wife and daughter, who attends a local school, Alex wants to represent his city centre community on the County Council.
As a County Councillor, Alex has fought to fix broken roads and transport networks, tackling potholes and reversing years of decline by pushing for fairer funding and holding contractors to account. He was instrumental in bringing the Starship delivery robots trial to Cambridgeshire —championing innovation in local transport.
Alex is passionate about improving public transport and promoting active travel. He has campaigned against anti-social pavement parking and for better EV charging facilities in Cambridge.
Alex says, “I would love to represent my city centre community on the County Council. I will work with the local Lib Dem team to fix our roads and improve public transport. I’ve already reported over 50 potholes in our area this year! If elected, I’ll be a strong, active voice for our city centre on the County Council—something our area sadly lacks currently.”
