Cambridge Post Office

THE FUTURE OF CAMBRIDGE’S MAIN POST OFFICE

The Post Office is proposing to close its main Cambridge branch on St Andrew’s Street in the city centre. An alternative arrangement is likely to involve franchising it to be operated within a commercial shop. The St. Andrew’s Street office is relied on for sending mail, banking, bill payments and accessing vital government services - and the provision of knowledgeable advice and guidance in the use of its services. With a visible, accessible location close to public transport, it is typically busy and widely used by the whole community and small businesses, but it is particularly important to those without online capability. It’s public service presence reinforces the vitality of high street at a time of change, giving rise to empty premises.  The Post Office Limited is a wholly-owned government corporation intended to provide social and community value.

We the undersigned urge Post Office Limited to keep open the post office branch in St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge.
