Sewage Works Plans

- Petition to Daniel Zeichner MP

The new Labour Government will make a decision on the 12th January as to whether the move of the Milton Sewage works can go ahead, in order to develop housing on the site.

The move will deliver new housing and jobs for the area, and reduce sewage going into the Cam near the city. However, the move will bring disruption to the area and in the current plans the government are failing to deliver potential direct benefits to the local community here in Chesterton - particularly potential improvements to the Fen Road area.

Therefore, the Liberal Democrats are demanding that the government must deliver direct improvements to our area with this change upon us. We have launched a petition calling on Daniel Zeichner to demand as our MP that the Secretary of State for Environment and Rural Affairs amends the plans such that

•    Chesterton should see direct benefits from the plans.
•    The plans should include road as well as pedestrian and cycle access from Fen Road to the new facilities, rather than forcing communities to drive all the way around Fen Road and Green End Road to reach them.
•    With the connection above it will no longer be necessary for Heavy Goods Vehicles to have to use Fen Road as a road link to the A14 as the dangerous level crossing can be closed as long as the road access is put in place first.

If you agree with these aims - complete the form below to support our petition.

Moving Milton Sewage Works

We the undersigned, call for Daniel Zeichner to support our efforts to persuade the government to ensure benefits come to Chesterton from the relocation of the Sewage Works
