Rubbish Management Nightingale Rec
Cllr Daniel Lee has been on the case to improve waste removal in Nightingale Rec and has contacted Cllr Smart via Cllr Carling and the head of Open Spaces to look and installing more bins and if further rubbish collections can be organised.

· Babraham Road starting today, 19 August, for approximately 18 weeks due to construction of an access road. There will be temporary lane narrowing during daytime shifts and lane closures with temporary traffic signals during night-time working.
During the course of the works, the shared footpath/ cycleway on Babraham Road will be closed and pedestrian and cyclists will be diverted through the construction site using a temporary footpath. The temporary footpath will be segregated from the construction site at all times and a marshall will be in place during construction hours to safely cross pedestrians/cyclists over heavy plant crossings.
Queen Edith’s Ward Multi Agency Police led meeting
Cllr Immy Blackburn-Horgan is asking all agencies to meet to have a joined up approach to the increased incidents concerning constituents around anti-social behaviour, vandalism and drug related issues. Cambridgeshire Police will be leading and are supporting a proactive approach to supporting our neighbourhood whilst addressing these concerns of the community.
Police and Crime Plan
Police and Crime Commissioner Darryl Preston has launched an online survey asking the public for their views on policing and crime priorities as he prepares a new Police and Crime Plan for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
Responses will help influence future policing priorities for the Chief Constable and partners to deliver across the county over the next four years.
The Rent Arrears Reduction Scheme is a short-term cash supplement, paid to private landlords, to help a private tenant in temporary financial difficulties pay off arrears and keep their home.

Cambridge City Council Open Forum for private renters – is it worth considering a mini event for QE?
Open Forum held for private renters which provided an opportunity for tenants living in private rented accommodation to find out how the council and other service providers – can support them and help ensure their home is safe, legal and sustainable. According to the last Census, in 2021, around 31% of Cambridge households rented privately – up from 26% in the previous Census - in Queen Edith's Ward in some streets in 2024 private renting is up to 75% of the housing stock.
Would this be of interest where in QEW private renting in some roads hits 75% of the population living here.
Any immediate issues for those in rented accommodation whether charity, social housing provider, council, private, corporate etc. contact the council’s Environmental Health team on 01223 457900 or residential.eh@cambridge.gov.uk
There is more information for private renters on the council website at www.cambridge.gov.uk/private-rented-accommodation
